چکیده

The availability of plastic microspheres labeled with different -emitting isotopes has allowed the quantification of blood flow in different organs, including the heart (1). In the past 3 decades this has made it possible to study the changes in myocardial blood flow (MBF) under different physiologic and pathophysiologic conditions in experimental animals. In a similar fashion, the development of PET has allowed the noninvasive quantification of regional MBF in healthy humans and patients with different cardiovascular diseases. This article summarizes how PET measurement of MBF has contributed to advance our understanding of cardiac physiology and pathophysiology.

Effect of Post-Reconstruction Gaussian Filtering on Image Quality and Myocardial Blood Flow Measurement with N-13 Ammonia PET

Objective(s): In order to evaluate the effect of post-reconstruction Gaussian filtering on image quality and myocardial blood flow (MBF) measurement by dynamic N-13 ammonia positron emission tomography (PET), we compared various reconstruction and filtering methods with image characteristics. Methods: Dynamic PET images of three patients with coronary artery disease (male-female ratio of 2:1; a...

Precision and accuracy of clinical quantification of myocardial blood flow by dynamic PET: A technical perspective.

A number of exciting advances in PET/CT technology and improvements in methodology have recently converged to enhance the feasibility of routine clinical quantification of myocardial blood flow and flow reserve. Recent promising clinical results are pointing toward an important role for myocardial blood flow in the care of patients. Absolute blood flow quantification can be a powerful clinical ...

PET tracers and techniques for measuring myocardial blood flow in patients with coronary artery disease

Assessment of the relative distribution of myocardial flow with myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) is methodologically limited to predict the presence or absence of flow-limited coronary artery disease (CAD). This limitation may often occur, when obstructive lesions involve multiple epicardial coronary arteries or disease-related disturbances of the coronary circulation coexist at the microvasc...

Benefits of Time - of - flight Positron Emission Tomography Computed Tomography with 13 N - ammonia

Noninvasive quantification of regional myocardial blood flow (MBF) and coronary flow reserve (CFR) by myocardial perfusion positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) imaging is wellestablished and has additional diagnostic value over traditional visual analysis. A growing need for high sensitivity and high spatial resolution capable of assessing smaller targets with shorter acqui...

Evaluation of the Novel Myocardial Perfusion Positron-Emission Tomography Tracer

Background—Positron-emission tomography (PET) tracers for myocardial perfusion are commonly labeled with short-lived isotopes that limit their widespread clinical use. F-BMS-747158-02 (F-BMS) is a novel pyridaben derivative that was evaluated for assessment of myocardial perfusion by comparison with N-ammonia (NH3) and with radioactive microspheres in a pig model. Methods and Results—Fourteen p...
